CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Enrichment Classes Based on our playgroup model and reworked for older children, Enrichment Classes are designed to engage students through art projects, stories, movement activities and games in order to build vocabulary and confidence in the target language. Taught by ISB instructors

Dance & Movement
World Dance (in French), 3.5-5y Oula oup barbatruc! Did you know that your body is magic and can transform as you wish? Just believe me and let's take a trip to dance world. Children will be challenged in the perception of their own body, space, movements and rhythms and will integrate the basics of dance vocabulary through games, stories and songs. Taught by Stephanie Larriere
World Dance (in French), 5.5-8y From Mother Africa to the United States, dance and swing crossing the borders of time and space, we'll explore moves, rhythms and music from Africa and how it inspired swing and tap dance in the United States. Taught by Stephanie Larriere
World Dance (in Spanish), 3.5-5y and 5.5-8y Description to come. Taught by BAX instructors
Kids Yoga (in English), 3-6y and 5-8y These classes introduce children to the practice of yoga. Yoga poses and principles are explored in a variety of fun ways. Nature, anatomy and imagination are all key aspects of the class. Children are encouraged to explore the way their bodies move through creative projects, partner work, story time and songs. Students also learn fun and simple ways to relax and spend quiet time. Taught by bija instructors

Drama
Drama (in French), 5.5-8y Description to come. Taught by Sophie Amieva
Creative Dramatics (in English), 5.5-8y Play. Explore. Collaborate. Children learn how to express their feelings and ideas by participating in theater games, interpreting plays from around the world, folktales and poetry, and reflecting on their own experiences and backgrounds. There will be a sharing at the end of the session for family and friends to experience what the children have created as an ensemble. Taught by Young Players Theater instructors

Other Fun Classes!
Cooking (in English), 3.5-5y / 5.5-8y Mimi's Soup Spoon offers healthy cooking classes designed to introduce children to the excitement, curiosity and warmth of cooking. Classes include a healthy recipe, taste tests, a hands-on cooking experience, safety tips, table manners, clean-up, story time, and take home treats. Classes playfully incorporate lessons on nutrition, science, math, and world culture. Our recipes include applesauce, quesadillas with guacamole, peach parfaits, potato pancakes, mango smoothies, and more. Taught by Eliza Hartley
Science (in English), 6-8y Radical Reactions This semester Mad Science explores the science behind exciting reactions. Join Bernoulli and Newton as we take an exciting look at aerodynamics and the properties of air ... under pressure. Explore the exciting science of chemistry as you grow a crazy crystal garden and make your own “chemical” soda pop! Next, take a tour on the electron freeway! Conductors, insulators, transistors, and other elements in the world of circuit electricity introduce themselves to you via the tingle in your fingertips. Create your own multi-density wave bottles while learning about water, waves and the environment, and simulate the effects of an ocean oil spill and develop creative techniques to clean it up! Learn the secrets behind famous magic that you can recreate for yourself. Discover the strengths of triangles, cylinders and arches, and learn how combinations of these shapes make for sturdy homes and skyscrapers! Gravity ... Inertia ... Centripetal force ... who could ever imagine that an introduction to physics could be so much fun? Taught by Mad Science Brooklyn
Soccer (in French or Spanish), 3.5-5y / 5.5-8y Get the ball rolling! Super Soccer Stars, New York City's most popular soccer development program, comes to ISB! Dynamic, international coaches work with every student to develop skills, self-confidence, and teamwork in a fun, non-competitive environment, in French! Positive reinforcement and a low child-to-coach ratio ensure that each child will improve his or her soccer skills through engaging warm-ups, drills, and games. A t-shirt is provided for each child on the first day of class.

ISB is a fast growing school with a competitive admissions process. Being a part of ISB Enrichment Programs (Playgroups, After School, Camp) does not guarantee admissions into our school day program. Enrichment Program families join our regular applicant pool when applying for admission to the school day program.
