ISB is a Partner in Brooklyn Politics of Food Conference: Global Crisis, Local Action

May 2, 2009 - The PSFC and CWHA are organizing a one day conference on the Politics of Food: Global Crisis, Local Action, to be held on May 2, 2009. It will focus on the political economy of food systems by examining the intersection of social justice and human and environmental health and sustainability and highlight grassroots responses to the crisis. We will explore in depth the political nature of the food supply and the local and global consequences of present corporate practices and government policies. Goals of the conference include educating our community on the international food crisis, articulating strategies and tactics for local response to the crisis, and mobilizing Brooklynites to act effectively. This uniquely grass roots driven conference is being planned and organized by a consortium of volunteers from the PSFC, CWHA and many other partnering organizations.
