Introducing the Parent Ambassadors program

In September 2017, we launched an exciting new initiative called the Parent Ambassadors program. In an effort to discover new ways for ISB to connect with the local community and to share our educational vision, we asked a group of current parents to partner with us to further spread the word about our school. The program is essentially a way of formalizing the work many of our wonderful parents have already been doing to help others outside of our community learn more about ISB through word of mouth.

How does the program work?

As ambassadors, parents choose to support ISB and prospective families in a variety of ways, such as writing reviews about ISB for school search websites, helping to lead admissions tours with ISB administrators, and simple things such as engaging ISB on social media (Facebook & Instagram). The program is designed to present engagement opportunities with varying time commitments, enabling parents to tailor their participation to fit their individual schedules.

Additional ways we ask parents to get involved include fostering partnerships with different organizations, attending an admissions fair, or even sharing an anecdotal story about their experience at ISB. For example, in October, we asked parents: “What does international mean to you and your family?” Here are some of the responses we received:

Being a citizen of the world”
–
Britta H., Spanish 2nd and 6th Grade Parent

“Pour ma famille et moi, “international” veut dire curieux, ouvert, ne pas avoir peur de decouvrir l’autre, prêt à communiquer sa vision du monde mais aussi prêt à accepter une vision différente de la notre.”
Maymuchka L., French 4th Grade Parent

“International” means cross-cultural experiences, an openness to diverse racial and ethnic experiences and a global view of the world.”
Yolanda M., Spanish Nursery & 1st Grade Parent

It has only been a little over a month since the program was launched, and Parent Ambassadors have already made a noticeable impact by sharing their unique perspectives. We’ve received amazing feedback from prospective families and community members about how our sense of community resonates beyond the physical walls of ISB.
