Author and illustrator Ana Matsusaki came all the way from Brazil to visit with the 2nd Graders and introduce them to her extraordinary debut book, The Collector of Heads. This one-of-a-kind and beautifully illustrated book explores Rosália’s very offbeat menagerie and the inside of the many heads she has collected over the years, which are all very unique in their own way. The book is really funny, and Head Librarian Maria Falgoust and 8th Grader Lulu’s enthusiastic reading of it had our students laughing out loud as they also reflected on the quirky contents of one another’s heads.
After the reading, with Ana’s guidance, our students started their own collections, by making little books in which they represented the inner workings of the most interesting heads they know!
