by Leila Narisetti, Student Council President
ISB’s Middle School Student Council was put into place so that the suggestions and concerns of our Middle School students could be heard and addressed. Since it was established, the Student Council has been making moves to have fun events for students.
The Middle School Student Council is comprised of four executive positions and two representatives per middle school grade; thus, the full council has 10 members. The staff advisor is Rotana Suy, Admissions Associate. The Middle School Executive Council meets every Thursday, and the full body of 10 meets every other Thursday.
Every other Wednesday, the President of the Middle School Council meets with ISB’s Middle School Director, Mr. Joe Santos. The Student Council is an important connection between students and the Middle School Director. We present students’ ideas to Mr. Santos, who ultimately makes the final decision.
The Student Council tries to have fun events in which everyone can participate. We have already planned a couple of spirit days like Cool Socks Day, which happened last Friday.
We plan on having a lot more spirit days like Sweatpants day, Color Week, and Food Day. We also plan to sell the roses again this February, since it was a big success last year. For those of you new to the school, you can buy a rose and a card for someone and we will personally deliver them to the person you list. We are also planning what is going to be a fabulous Valentine’s Day Dance! Get your dancing shoes and dress clothes ready. Stay tuned for details!
Meet the Student Council Executive Committee!
