Supporting Every Student to Thrive Supporting Every Student to Thrive Supporting Every Student to Thrive

At ISB, we believe that every student deserves the chance to thrive, and that this happens best when we work together. Our Student Support Team partners closely with teachers, families, and outside specialists to ensure every child feels seen, supported, and empowered to grow.

A Collaborative Approach

Student success is built on strong partnerships. The Student Support Team works with classroom teachers to identify individual strengths and needs, and to design strategies that promote growth across academic, social, and emotional areas.

The school collaborates closely with a School Consulting Psychologist and a network of outside providers, including SETSS (Special Education Teacher Support Services), occupational therapists (OT), speech-language pathologists, and clinical psychologists, to ensure a comprehensive support system for each student.

Partnering with Families

Families play an essential role in the student support process. Parents are encouraged to actively participate in shaping the support strategies for their child. Through open communication and regular meetings, parents are invited to learn more about available resources and to engage in conversations about how the school can best support their child’s growth.

Areas of Support

Learning

Learning support addresses the needs of students who require additional teaching or re-teaching in academic areas. Our Learning Support teachers collaborate with classroom educators to provide targeted instruction and monitor progress to help students build confidence and competence.

Language

Targeted language support offers extra help for students who are acquiring a new language, whether English, French, or Spanish. This support typically takes place throughout the Lower School and focuses on developing the language skills needed to engage fully in ISB’s bilingual learning environment.

Social-Emotional and Behavioral

Social-emotional and behavioral support encompasses a range of interventions designed to promote well-being and positive school experiences. The Counseling Team consults with teachers and parents to develop effective strategies, which may include behavior plans, brief counseling sessions with individuals or groups, or connecting families with outside resources such as formal evaluations or therapeutic support.
